What we do
Angel investing
GPC is a family office and "super angel" investor. We prefer to take the lead “angel” investor position in early stage companies. Our preference is for rapidly scalable businesses, especially web based distribution models. Models with international potential are preferred. Our initial investment sweet zone is $500K to $1,000,000. We look to take positions in the range of 10% to 30% and we often participate in follow on rounds. We prefer businesses with a first round pre-money valuation in the range of $1M - $10M.
We strongly prefer businesses to which we can actively add value. This means a preference for Australian businesses in sectors where we have domain experience and a “driver(s)” interested in experienced non-executive input.
Portfolio Investing
We investment actively across PE, Venture Debt, Alternative Finance, Property Syndicates etc. We prefer small to mid sized partners and fund managers, especially if we can add value to them. Our particular technical strengths lie in the legal/accounting aspects of growing businesses (eg ESOPs, R&D tax concession, EMDG, contractual relationships, Board reporting KPIs etc) coupled with experience in the more general business, marketing and HR challenges faced by hyper-rapid growth businesses.
Equity raising + M&A
We provide advice and support to early stage businesses on equity raising and to more mature businesses on VC rounds and “exit strategy " process and implementation. Our unique positioning on this is as independent advisor and personal support to the business owners (ie we are not investment bankers and do NOT undertake contingent fee work or direct fund raising).
